HUDSON – Old Home Days are just around the corner – Aug. 14-17 – and the committee is working diligently to make sure the event is one that all ages will enjoy.

The committee members have many of the wonderful activities that have always been at Old Home Days, and added some new ones.

Trick or treat in August? You can find it at Old Home Days. Events will kick off from 6-7 p.m. Aug. 14 on the Hills House grounds across from Alvirne High School with trick-or-treating for children up to age 12 around the grounds at each of the vendors.

At 7, there will be a “Parade of Horribles” beginning at the front porch of the Hills House. It doesn’t stop with the kids; everyone is invited to be a character.

The theme for Friday will be “Beach Party,” Saturday will bring out the country in everyone and Sunday rounds out the weekend with a salute to patriotism.

Entertainment will feature something for everyone and is always free.

Local bands include Dueling Pianos on Thursday night, Figure Eight on Friday night, The Rock Daddys on Saturday afternoon and Walkin’ The Line on Saturday night during Country Night.

For the second year, Hudson Old Home Days will hold a singing competition, “Are You the Voice of Hudson Old Home Days”, presented by Perfect Entertainment and sponsored by Charles Schwab of Nashua for ages 9 and older. Prizes will be awarded to the top three in three age categories, and the winners will be featured performers on Sunday.

R&S Fireworks will be the highlight of the event again this year, with plans of putting on a phenomenal show Saturday night.

The carnival will begin Thursday night and continue through Sunday, along with other fun activities. Special deals are available Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon for the carnival rides, when “Pay One Price” wristbands will be available and ride enthusiasts can take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy as many rides as possible.

Old Home Days will have many free games for kids throughout Saturday.

Do you enjoy the Haystack Treasure Hunt and Scavenger Hunt every year?

They are back, and there are exciting prizes for the kids on Sunday – plus, the fun is free.

An Adult Haystack Hunt will be held Friday night. Also on Friday will be rides on the Re/Max hot air balloon, with all of the proceeds benefiting the Alvirne High School Touchdown Club.
