Greater Nashua Civil Air Patrol honors two cadets

NASHUA – Cadet Robert Drouin, of Brookline, and Cadet Thomas Lessard, of Nashua, were awarded the Gen. Billy Mitchell Award at the May promotions meeting of the Civil Air Patrol Greater Nashua Squadron.

The Mitchell Award and promotion to second lieutenant mark the transition from enlisted to officer after eight rank promotions.

Cadets must pass leadership and aerospace exams, a physical fitness test and a board of review for each promotion. To earn the Mitchell Award, cadets must also exhibit mature behavior, responsibility and leadership skills, and pass a board of review. Only 15 percent of all cadets nationwide earn the Mitchell Award.
