NASHUA – The nonprofit American Gerbil Society will hold its 11th annual New England Gerbil Show from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Holiday Inn, 9 Northeastern Blvd.

Gerbil owners are invited to register their gerbils for this fun, family-friendly event, which includes several contests and pet competitions.

Serious gerbil owners and breeders may compete in official judging for the Best-in-Show honors, while the public WILL vote for the Photo Contest award winners. A fun pet class competition for younger kids gives awards for pets’ endearing characteristics, with ribbons awarded for qualities such as cutest face, fastest wheel runner, friendliest and best whiskers. Older children may enter their gerbils in the “Mock Show” and learn from the judges what makes a winning gerbil.

In the “Gerbil Olympics,” pets can compete in events such as tube chewing and hamtrak racing. There will be a gerbil agility demonstration, gerbil-related merchandise, painted ceramic gerbils, a raffle and silent auction, and a 4-H pocket pets exhibit.

Author Donna Anastasi will be available to sign her animal-care books and answer questions about gerbils.

Pet class entries are required to preregister at www.agsgerbils.org.

Admission is $2, with a $10 maximum per family. Exhibit and vendor space is available.
