Jackson woman dies after apparently hit by own car

JACKSON, N.H. (AP) - Police have recovered the body of an 88-year-old New Hampshire woman who authorities suspect died after being run over by her own car.

Jackson Police say they received a phone call on Thursday around 9 a.m. of an empty vehicle about 30 feet in the woods near a house.

The body of Mary Wilkinson-Greenberg was found near the car.

Jackson Police Sgt. Sean Cowland tells WMWV that the victim may have accidentally hit the gearshift of the parked car near her house while trying to access it from the passenger's side, causing the car to roll down some pavement, over an embankment and into the woods over her.

A medical examiner thinks the incident happened late Tuesday.
