RISE offering classes for seniors

The Rivier Institute for Senior Education is tailored for “learning in retirement” for ages 55 and older. The program is in its 15th year and offers a variety of courses ranging from the arts to technology and exercise.

RISE will host its fall course preview from 9:30 a.m.-noon Friday, Aug. 17, in the Dion Center Reception Room (first floor) at Rivier University on Clement Street.

The RISE program courses include literature, art, history, music, computer science, digital photography, religion, philosophy, spiritual enrichment, foreign languages, writing, world cultures, current events, genealogy, knitting, moderate exercise courses, yoga and water exercise. None of the courses are credit bearing. There is a choice of five courses each term. Two five-week semesters are offered. Part runs Sept. 4-Oct. 5; part two runs Oct. 15-Nov. 16. No prerequisites and no tests are required. Membership for the 10-weeks of courses is $120 and includes computer labs, the use of the Muldoon Health and Fitness Center, Regina Library and Dion Dining Hall. Parking is located across the street between the Education Center and Sylvia Trottier Hall.
