Barnaby Gets 4.5 Years
NASHUA — Accused murderer Anthony Barnaby is expected to serve 4.5 years in prison after entering an Alford plea in Hillsborough County Superior Court-South this afternoon.
According to Cornell Law School, an Alford plea registers a formal claim neither of guilt nor innocence toward charges brought against a defendant in criminal court.
Barnaby, now 51, reached the plea agreement with prosecutors regarding the Oct. 3, 1988 murders of Nashua residents Brenda Warner and Charlene Ranstrom.
It is expected Barnaby will be required to return to his native Canada after his release from prison.
More details will follow as they become available.
