Officials launch investigation into Litchfield fire

LITCHFIELD – The Litchfield Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire it fought at 7 Burgess Drive shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday.

Firefighter Paul Kelly said Friday a neighbor was headed to his shed on Thursday morning and noticed smoke coming from the eaves of the home. A Litchfield police officer arrived and confirmed that smoke was coming from the roofline.

Firefighters from Londonderry, Hudson, Bedford and Derry responded to assist Litchfield’s department, Kelly said.

No one was injured in the blaze, but two family pets died.

Kelly said investigators will work with the homeowner to determine a cause of the fire, though nothing is suspicious at this time.
