David C. Ragley, 73, of Clarion died Wednesday, September 7, 2011, as the result of an accidental drowning in Erie.
Born November 16, 1937, he was one of three sons of S.A. "Sam" and Mary Ager Ragley.
He married Barbara F. Smith in 1958. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage. She survives.
Mr. Ragley was operator and co-owner, with his brother Tom, of Ragley's Bowl-Arena in Strattanville for 43 years before retiring in 1997 to enjoy a leisurely life with his wife, splitting their time between Clarion, Erie and Florida. Mr. Ragley was an active member of the Clarion Moose Lodge, the Sons of the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Diana Troyan and her husband, Joe, of Ford City, Linda Walters and her husband, Dave "Dude," of Clarion, Sandra Ragley and Tom Wood of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Carla Smith and her husband, Rodger, of Clarion, and Samuel Ragley and Angela Whitmer of Rimersburg; eight grandchildren, Joseph Troyan and his wife, Sarah, of Evans City, Mark Troyan of Ford City, Alisha Walters and Danny Walters of Clarion, Corbin Ragley of Shippenville, and Desiree, Paige and Donte Whitmer of Rimersburg; a great-granddaughter, Amelia Troyan of Evans City; and two brothers, Frank Ragley and his wife, Pat, and Tom Ragley and his wife, Shirley, all of Clarion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin grandchildren, Steven and Kelly Troyan.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 8 and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 9, at the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion with the Rev. Monty Sayers officiating.
Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Clarion.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Immaculate Conception School Endowment, of which he was a co-founder. Donations can be made payable to the Immaculate Conception School, c/o Endowment Fund, 720 Liberty Street, Clarion PA 16214.
