It's not easy starting a hackerspace when you have hackers but no space

Can you have a hackerspace without a space? They're sort of trying that in Milford, where the initial effort to start up the state's third such group ran into problems. They're don't have a home for the various shared tools that make hackerspaces such a draw, and the question is whether you can have a sort of virtual hackerspace.
