Who needs CGI? Scene from "Rescued from an Eagle's Nest", 1908.

A fake "eagle snatches child" video was made before - in 1908!

You know that video making the rounds which purports to show a golden eagle trying to grab a baby in a park - the one that turned out to be a fake, to nobody's surprise, made by some art students?

Slate has a great piece pointing out that this isn't the first time the eagle-takes-baby tale was put on a short film. They have a clp made by D.W. Griffith, back in 1908. Awesome!

Check it out here.

Griffith's memory is tainted by his KKK-ish "Birth of a Nation" film, but he is one of the greatest of the early movie directors.
