Maine candidate criticized because she plays World of Warcraft online

Colleen Lachowicz' WoW character, Santiaga

World of Warcraft might be losing some of its cool as a massive online game, but it can still alarm folks in Maine, it seems. The Portland Press-Herald reports that a state senate candidate in the Pine Tree State is being attacked by her opponents because she plays the online game. Here's the story.

Her response? In part: "Did you know that more people over the age of 50 play video games than under the age of 18?"

I think this would be a great question for the next presidential debate: If you played World of Warcraft, what would your character look like?

WoW just released its fourth expansion, which features kung-fun Pandas. As this game site notes, it sold well (2.7 milion copies in a week) but much less than earlier expansions, part of a general decline in the whole massive online game environment, at least in the U.S.
