Walmart is the country's solar-panel leader, because it can save money

Solar panels make economic sense in many places, says Walmart, which has 62 megawatts of them sitting atop stores around the country and is installing a lot more. (By contrast, all of New Hampshire probably has no more than 2, or at most 3, megawatts of panels.) I have never noticed panels atop any NH Walmarts, presumably because our climate and shortage of state incentives doesn't make them worthwhile.
As a BusinessWeek article makes clear, the company claims that these save it money; it's not a greener-than-thou pitch. If this was Target I might be dubious, but I'm more inclined to believe that penny-pitching Walmart is telling the truth that these installations make economic sense.
