Did better fireproofing in warehouses doom Building 19? that's one unexpected takeaway from an interview in the Globe with the founder of the goofy seller of salvaged material that was a quirky Northeast institution before going belly up last month. Check it out here; the owner, known as Jerry Ellis in the stores' comic-book-y promotional materials, is delightfully honest and open.
By the way, if you don't think this is a geeky topic, you don't really understand geekery. To be a geek is to more interested in the details of a topic than society thinks you should be.
Understanding the topic, as much as the topic itself, is the goal - and finding unexpected connections (firefighting and "good stuff cheap!") is a real prize.
