A third fire in a Tesla sedan triggers a federal investigation

A third Tesla sedan has caught fire on a highway after a crash, leading the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to say it "will contact the local authorities who are looking into the incident to determine if there are vehicle safety implications that merit agency action."USA Today story here.

This is freaking out investors, a panic-ready group that makes flocks of turkeys look level-headed and sensible, and will probably produce another defensive response from Elon Musk, The long-term effect on the most interesting new vehicle produced in America in decades (both technicaly and business-wise) has yet to be seen, but let's hope it's not significant. I'm rooting for electric cars, and Tesla is a big part of the grand experiment.

Science Cafe Nashua plans to discuss electric cars at one of our sessions in the new year; we haven't set the schedule yet.
