PETA, which sometimes acts like a parody of itself, filed animal-cruelty charges against a lobster processing plant in Maine.
A Maine prosectuor has declined to act, reports the Portland Press-Herald: "He did a legal analysis and determined the state statute only applies to sentient beings, and does not apply to invertebrates."
The whole story is here. It is best read with a dish of melted butter and garlic bread ... mmmmm.
