Turning unused TV spectrum 'white space' into broadband, via libraries

If you want to send broadband Internet over the air, you need "air" - broadcast spectrum - to do it with. Where to get it? Why not use bits of the UHF/VHF spectrum abandoned when TV switched from analog to digital broadcasting!
In Durham, UNH's new Center for Broadband Excellence is overseeing one of six tests around the country of this very idea, via the Gigabit Libraries Network project, as I report in my Telegraph column today.
