On April 16, 2012 a member of the Merrimack Police Department stopped a motor vehicle on Continental Boulevard for a minor motor vehicle violation. The investigating officer conducted a records check and learned that the operator, identified as James Sweeney, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license out of the state of Maryland. He was arrested and transported to the Merrimack Police Department for processing. During the inventory of the vehicle Sweeney was operating, a substance believed to marijuana was found.

Sweeney was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail.

He is scheduled to appear before the Merrimack District Court on May 1, 2012 to answer to three charges, operating with a suspended license, possession and transportation of marijuana.
