NH’s jobless rate up slightly in February
New Hampshire’s unemployment rate increased slightly last month, climbing by a tenth of a percent over January’s rate.
In February, 5.2 percent of the state’s workers were unemployed, compared to 5.1 percent in January. That means 704,280 residents had jobs last month, an increase of 350 from January and an increase of nearly 7,000 from February last year.
That leaves 38,280 people unemployed, a decrease of 80 from January and fewer by 2,120 from February 2011, according to New Hampshire Employment Security.
The state’s unemployment rate is still well below the national rate of 8.3 percent, which is identical to the January rate and a 0.7 percent decrease from February, 2011, according to state Employment Security.
