AMHERST – Several local businesses have been nominated for the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce’s annual business awards.

Cultivating Business in the Souhegan Valley is the theme of the 26th annual award dinner and celebration.

Businesses are nominated based on their involvement in the greater Souhegan Valley communities as volunteers, supporting the efforts of local charities and nonprofit organizations, and for being businesses held in high regard for their business practices.

The nominees are:

Business of the Year: Amherst Label, Milford; Bingham Lumber, Brookline; Skillings & Sons, Amherst.

Small Business of the Year: Windows on West at Milford High School, Milford; Earthward Natural Foods, Amherst; The Flying Butcher, Amherst.

Business Leader of the Year: Tina Benson, LA Limousine, Wilton; Mary Murphy, Charles Schwab, Nashua; Dale White, Leighton A. White Inc., Milford.

Volunteer of the Year: Dave Alcox, Milford High School, Milford; The Brookline Volunteer Fire Department Association, Brookline; Karen Johnson, The Cabinet Press, Milford.

Voting will take place during the annual dinner celebration June 5 at LaBelle Winery in Amherst. Cocktail reception starts at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30, and the Business and Student Awards at 7:30. Tickets are $50 per person and may be purchased by calling 673-4360 or visiting Souhegan.net.
