Kids Wrapup: Soccer, Gymnastics, Basketball, Swimming, Lacrosse

Classics win fall soccer championship

The New Hampshire Classics girls U11 team won a NHSA fall state championship. The Classics won the U12 8v8 Division I title, taking the final game 1-0 over Nashua World Cup on a goal Haley Goff. Other team members include, Anna Garrison, Molly Redman, Lauren May, Gaby Goumas, Stephanie MacMillan, Lauren Phelps, Grace LaChance, Natalie Kelley, Jadyn McDonough, Brooke Shatney and Samantha Sarro

GYMNASTICS

The New England Gymnastics Training Center of Hudson competed in the second Annual Turkey Shoot Invitational in Bow. The Level 4 and 5 teams each took home the third-place scarecrow trophy. The meet was also considered a qualifier for the upcoming Second State Sectional. Many gymnast recorded the score of 31.000 or higher to qualify.

Level 4 (Turkey A)

Isabella Cebrero, Hudson, placed fourth with an all-around score of 33.425. She received a 9.225 on vault (first place), 7.95 on bars (third place), 7.8 on beam (seventh place) and 8.45 on floor (second place).

Kelly Perry, Hudson, placed sixth all with an all-around score of 32.700. She received a 8.9 on vault (fourth place), 7.35 on bars (sixth place), 8.95 on beam (second place) and 7.5 on floor (seventh place).

Lillia Szewczyk, Hudson, placed ninth with an all-around score of 31.400. She received a 8.6 on vault (sixth place), 7.45 on bars (fifth place), 7.3 on beam and 7.95 on floor (sixth place).

Level 4 (Turkey B)

Madison Hoyt, Hudson, placed third with an all-around score of 34.200. She received a 8.85 on vault (fourth place), 9.0 on bars (first place), 8.35 on beam (third place) and 8.0 on floor (fifth place).

Olivia Faro, Windham, placed fourth with an al-around score of 33.900. She received a 9.15 on vault (first place), 8.35 on bars (sixth place), 8.25 on beam (fifth place) and 8.15 on floor (second place).

Lauren Lavallee, Pelham, placed 11th with an all-around score of 29.75. She received a 8.65 on vault (sixth place), 6.95 on bars, 6.95 on beam and 7.20 on floor (11th place).

Level 4 (Turkey D)

Emma Rousseau, Litchfield, placed sixth with an all-around score of 32.800. She received a 8.8 on vault (fifth place), 8.75 on bars (fourth place), 6.85 on beam and 8.4 on floor (fourth place).

Level 5 (Gobble A)

Skyler Bomba, Hudson, placed second with an all-around score of 34.100. She received a score of 8.7 on vault (first place), 8.75 on bars (second place), 8.3 on beam (fifth place) and 8.35 on floor (third place).

Megan Veino, Nashua, placed fifth with an all-around score of 32.500. She received a score of 8.45 on vault (third place), 8.2 on bars (third place), 7.55 on beam and 8.3 on floor (fourth place).

Kamryn Ford, Litchfield, placed ninth with an all-around score of 31.400. She received a score of 8.25 on vault (fifth place), 7.65 on bars, 7.9 on beam and 7.6 on floor.

Jackie Smith, Hudson, placed 10th with an all-around score of 30.374. She received a score of 8.3 on vault (fourth place), 8.0 on bars, 7.425 on beam and 6.65 on floor.

Level 5 (Gobble B)

Jesse Carter, Litchfield, placed third with an all-around score of 33.800. She received a score of 8.2 on vault (sixth place), 8.2 on bars, 9.3 on beam (second place) and 8.1 on floor (fourth place).

Dakota Cummings, Pelham, placed fourth with an all-around score of 33.775. She received a score of 8.85 on vault (first place), 8.85 on bars (third place), 8.75 on beam (third place) and 7.35 on floor.

Kayleigh Lavoie, Hudson, placed seventh with an all-around score of 31.600. She received a score of 7.75 on vault, 8.25 on bars (fourth place), 7.55 on beam and 8.05 on floor (fifth place).

Level 6 (Pumpkin A)

Dominique Gentile, Hudson, placed first with an all-around score of 34.475 She received a 8.75 on vault (first place tie), 8.85 on bars (first place), 8.825 on beam (second place) and 8.3 on floor (first place).

BASKETBALL

The Nashua Nighthawks opened their fourth season in the Bedford Preeason Jamboree. The Nighthawks finished their first weekend going 9-4 collectively in the tournament, with three teams ensuring themselves a semifinal berth.

The Nighthawks fourth-grade team opened its tournament run against Windham Travel, winning 31-17. Leading the effort for Nashua was John Champa with a game-high 14 points. Chipping in with good offensive games were Clay Medling with five points and Skye Boykins with four points. Defensively, the ‘Hawks got a strong effort on defense from Mike Meads and Jeffrey Reza with several steals. The fourth-graders tipped off against Brookline and walked off with another win 30-16. Leading the effort was Jarret Bierien and Tilak Patel with rebounds and great defense. Anthony Costa had 10 points for Nashua. The ’Hawks squared off against the Lancers from Londonderry. In a terrific defensive game, the Nighthawks limited the Lancers offense in a 35-9 win. Xahn Frater led the way on offensive with 12 points. Nick Harrison chipped in with a career-high five points. Nick Page dominated the boards with six rebounds.

The Nashua Nighthawks fifth-grade team opened its run in Bedford with a 50-26 win over Brookline. The fifth-grade squad added a 55-13 win over Londonderry. The Nighthawks dropped a tough one to Bedford. Leading the efforts for Nashua were Kevin Genao, Cyrus Forcier, DJ Frechette, Rohan Patel and Mike Lavasseur. Outstanding defense and rebounding came from Max Osgood, Zachary Boyer, Zachery Bodwell, Alex Moody and Stephan Lambert.

SWIMMING

The YMCA of Greater Nashua STORM swim team competed in the NES North Country Athletic Club’s November Team Specialty Meet at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vt.

Team records were set by 10 swimmers in 19 individual events, including Julia Krawiec (9-10 50 free), Mattea Dumdey (9-10 1,000 free), Vipheaviny Chea (11-12 1,000 free, 200 back), Alicia Meehan (senior 1,000 free), Alyssa Peterson (senior 100 fly, 200 fly), Nico Laborera (11-12 100 free, 50 back, 100 breast), James Halstead (11-12 400 IM), Matt Puksta (13-14 100 breast, 200 IM), Eric Howard (senior 50 free, 100 free, 100 back, 200 back, 200 IM) and Spencer Brandon (senior 200 fly).

Also contributing to the team effort were those swimmers finishing within the top three in individual events: Lauren Brennan, Mattea Dumdey, James Halstead, Abigail Hovey, Eric Howard, Rebecca Jolly, Julia Krawiec, Nico Laborera, Gavinn Roby and Grace Tramack.

STORM top three relay finishes included mixed U10 200 medley (Julia Krawiec, Mattea Dumdey, Abigail Hovey, Jacqueline Dumont), mixed U14 200 medley (Sarah Halstead, Riley Bates, David Johnson, James Jolly), mixed U12 200 medley (Nico Laborera, Vipheaviny Chea, Autumn Tierney, James Halstead), mixed senior 200 medley (Matt Sexton, Jordan Tierney, Alyssa Peterson, Eric Howard), mixed U10 200 free (Julia Krawiec, Jacqueline Dumont, Grace Tramack, Rachel Johnson), mixed senior 200 free (Spencer Brandon, Jackie McLavey, Nick Kwan, Kimberly Sinkiewicz).

LACROSSE

The New Hampshire Tomahawks U13 lacrosse team won the Junior Pumpkin Shootout, going 5-0 at the tournament at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I.
