Skyhawks 4, Defenders 3

Augusta, N.J. – The American Defenders of New Hampshire were edged the Sussex Skyhawks 4-3 at Skylands Park on Friday night.

Defenders starting pitcher Adam Piechowski (2-2) did not factor in the decision, going six innings in his first start of the season. He allowed one run on five hits, one walk and four strike outs in the game. Luis Ramos (4-5) suffered the loss, being charged with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Angel Molina powered the Defenders offense, going 3 for 4 in the game, finishing a triple shy of the cycle, with a three run home run.

Sussex starter Kyle Ruwe (6-4) went five innings and gave up three runs on eight hits, two walks and three strike outs in a no-decision. Reliever Greg Lane (1-1) earned the win dealing four scoreless innings and finishing the game out of the bullpen.

The Defenders will continue the four-game series with Sussex this afternoon at 5:05.

when Nick Asselin (6-6) takes the ball for New Hampshire. Roger Lincoln (4-5) is set to make the start for the Skyhawks.
