Tornadoes 5, Defenders 3

WORCESTER, Mass. – The American Defenders of New Hampshire rallied for three late runs but were bested 5-3 by the Worcester Tornadoes at Hanover Insurance Park on Wednesday.

Defenders’ starting pitcher Nick Asselin (6-4) suffered the loss in six innings of work, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks. Juan Padilla gave up a pair of runs in the eighth.

Worcester starter Chris Farley (3-4) earned the victory going seven shutout innings, giving up three hits and five walks while striking out eight. Closer Santiago Ramirez pitched 1-1/3 innings to pick-up his seventh save of the season, allowing two runs in the ninth.

New Hampshire’s Chris Kelly went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Boomer Berry was also 2-for-4 with a doubles and an RBI.
