Corporate America rules the brainwashed

Legitimate polls and surveys conclusively indicate that literally tens of millions of Americans want a national health care plan that covers everyone -- sort of a Medicare for All.

However, a handful of major corporations were able to spend millions of dollars on media ads misrepresenting facts and blatantly lying about what would comprise any national health plan.

They hired hundreds of lying lobbyists to skulk around the halls of Congress reminding lawmakers how much money the lobbyists’ clients have contributed to their campaign coffers and how quickly those “inducements” will dry up if they fail to vote to the advantage of the corporations.

The lower 40 to 60 percent of the American demographic were at one time characterized by the upper classes as The Great Unwashed. The reality is that The Great Unwashed now amount to about 60 to 80 percent of the population.

This goes unchallenged, however, because The Great Unwashed has become The Gravely Brainwashed. We are a nation of Charlie Browns, thinking that a change in the White House will make a real difference just as Charlie Brown inanely thinks that this time Lucy will not pull the football away.

Poor gullible Charlie. Lucy does what she always does, and America remains what it has been for years -- a nation of the corporations, by the corporations and for the corporations.
