CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A former New Hampshire tax return preparer has pleaded guilty to filing numerous false income tax returns for her personal benefit.
Twenty-six-year-old Gladys Maria Dominguez-Pena of Nashua pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to filing the false claims in 2007.
U.S. Attorney John Kacavas says Pena admitted she prepared dozens of electronically submitted federal income tax returns that included false statements regarding income and withholding, dependents and child care. She admitted the returns included false claims for refunds of federal income tax withholding.
From bank surveillance photographs, the government identified her depositing into her bank account at least 18 checks totaling $85,000 drawn as loans against the false returns.
Pena is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 11, 2010.
