NH expects first swine flu vaccine doses mid-week

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The first vaccinations against swine flu are expected to arrive in New Hampshire by Tuesday or Wednesday.

The state Department of Health and Human Services says the initial shipment of 7,700 doses of vaccine will be distributed to health care providers around the state. The first priority will be vaccinating members of high-risk populations, such as pregnant women, young children with medical conditions and health care providers who have direct contact with children.

Just a trickle of vaccine — 600,000 doses of the nasal spray FluMist, will be divided among 21 states and four large cities by Tuesday, with more small shipments to more states later in the week. States are urging people to be patient until more arrives.
