FBI investigating closed NH mortgage company

LACONIA (AP) – The New Hampshire Attorney General says the FBI is conducting a criminal investigation of a Meredith mortgage company that closed suddenly last week.

The New Hampshire Union Leader says state Attorney General Michael Delaney confirmed that the FBI investigation of Financial Resources Mortgage Inc. has expanded beyond the Granite State.

Financial Resources closed its doors last Monday, as did two other businesses sharing its address.

New Hampshire authorities have said they are reviewing a number of complaints against the firm.

The Union-Leader says investors throughout the country had given the company hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years and had been receiving rates of return averaging 13 percent.
