US Senate approves $3 million for NH Great Bay

CONCORD (AP) – U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg says the Senate has approved $3 million in funding to help preserve the New Hampshire Seacoast’s Great Bay.

The Republican senator says the money will help the Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership protect more than 165 acres of land.

In the last 12 years Gregg’s office says he’s helped secure $56 million for the protection of sensitive environmental lands surrounding Great Bay.

Those funds and other private and public support have led to the permanent protection of 5,213 acres of land.

Scientists say Great Bay is one of the largest inland estuaries along the Atlantic coast.
