1,000 students sick in NH school district

LONDONDERRY, N.H. (AP) — Officials say nearly one in five students was out sick in the Londonderry School District this week as swine flu continues to spread through schools.

Superintendent Nathan Greenberg says it’s unclear how many absentees were due to the H1N1 virus but says many parents are reporting that their children have flu-like symptoms.

The Union Leader says about 1,000 students in the district were absent on Tuesday, a big jump from the 380 that were out sick at the beginning of last week.

Most of illnesses are in elementary school children.
