Veterans Day Events

Public events scheduled in observance of Veterans Day:

NASHUA: The Veterans Day Parade will meet at Holman Stadium at 9:45 a.m. and start at 10:30 a.m. It will be followed by the signing of the Military Community Covenant in front of City Hall, at noon or after the end of the parade.

HUDSON: The American Legion performs a ceremonial firing with the color guard at Veterans Memorial Bridge at 8 a.m., and then repeats the ceremony at all veterans’ memorial sites in town.

MERRIMACK: The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8641 and American Legion Merrimack Memorial Post 98 will combine in their observance of Veterans Day. At 11 a.m., color guards from the VFW and Merrimack Police Department will march from the courthouse to the Veteran’s memorial at Last Rest Cemetery. Speakers will say a few words, and then the color guards will march to the American Legion on Baboosic Lake Road for a salute. At 1 p.m., the groups will hold a small service at Veterans Park on Camp Sargent Road. At 3 p.m., VFW members will place plaques of service members on the walls of their hall on Daniel Webster Highway.

MILFORD: The Veteran’s Day parade will begin around 10:30 a.m. at the Ricciardi Hartshorn American Legion Post on Cottage Street. Marchers from the American Legion and the VFW will parade to the World War I Memorial on the Oval and the Korean War Memorial on Elm Street.

LYNDEBOROUGH: The Lafayette Artillery Company will fire its brass cannon three times in honor of all veterans outside the Town Hall in Lyndeborough Center. Veterans present will be invited to pull the lanyard that fires the cannon. Afterward, a coffee social hour will be held in the hall.

HOLLIS: Jim Belanger, a member of the US Naval Academy Class of 1966, US Navy Combat Veteran with eight years service and commander of the Hollis VFW, will give the welcoming address during this year’s annual observance of Veteran’s Day. The event starts at 11 a.m. at the Hollis Congregational Church. Also, observances are planned for this morning November 10 at 9 a.m. at the Hollis Brookline Middle School; 12:30 p.m. at Hollis Brookline High School; and 2 p.m. at the Hollis Primary School. Veterans are invited to attend the school observances and are asked to identify themselves when they arrive.
