Defendant waives hearing in Merrimack murder
MERRIMACK - A Merrimack man waived his right to a probable cause hearing Tuesday morning on charges that he stabbed a Nashua man to death at a party at the end of October.
Corey Furgal, 23, of 16 Bel Air Ave., Merrimack, remains jailed on a second-degree murder charge, and prosecutors may now present his case to a grand jury in Hillsborough County Superior Court sometime in the next several months.
Furgal is accused of stabbing Chris Vydfol, 20, of Nashua, in the chest during a fight that broke out while both men were at a party at 157 Bedford Road, just before 2 a.m. on Nov. 1.
Robert Brackett, 20, of 157 Bedford Road, was later charged with hosting an underage drinking party, police said.
Police were already on their way to check a noise complaint when they got word of the fight and stabbing, police said.
Police and prosecutors have not said what prompted the fight and stabbing, or released other details surrounding the incident. Various documents relating to the investigation remain sealed and unavailable to the public, court staff said.
The prosecutor, Assistant Attorney General Susan Morrell, said Tuesday that she could not comment on the circumstances of the alleged murder.
