Hollis police warn of fundraiser fraud
HOLLIS – Police are warning residents not to give money to anyone claiming to be fundraising for the Hollis Police Association. That’s because no such organization exists.
Police were notified Thursday that a person had called a resident trying to solicit money for the Hollis Police Association. When questioned further by the resident, the caller admitted he did not work for the Hollis Police Department but had been hired to raise money for the Hollis Police Association, police said.
Not only does that organization not exist, but no group associated with the department is currently asking for donations, police said.
If residents receive similar calls, they are asked to call police at 465-7637, police said.
