Man accused of assaulting resident for money

NASHUA – Police have charged a city man with breaking into an apartment and assaulting the tenant for money.

Emmanuel Vazquez, 31, faces a felony robbery and felony burglary charge for the alleged crime.

Vazquez broke into the apartment at 55 Whitney St. late Tuesday afternoon, police said. He assaulted a man he knew and demanded money, police Lt. George McCarthy said.

Vazquez also threatened the victim with a chair, McCarthy said. The man didn’t suffer any serious injuries, McCarthy said.

Police found Vazquez not long after he left the apartment, and he was arrested.

Vazquez, of 25 Morgan St., Apt. 116, also faces a misdemeanor charge of obstructing the report of a crime, police said.

He was scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on Wednesday morning.
